Not only are there some gorgeous stretches of coastline to explore from the comfort of a sit on kayak, but there is plenty to do with the kids. Family outings in the surf are becoming more and more popular. Our tandem sit ons are all designed to be a floating platform for those who want to spend the day on the water. Aside from the sea, there are plenty of places where you can take out a large sit on for a lazy day with a family. The Grand Western canal and Exeter canal.
For those who want to take Sit on Top kayaks in more active water and bigger swells lots of space is recommended. The busy surf spots of Croyde and Woolacombe on the North coast are not great due the large crowds. We would recommend getting some space further down the beach at Saunton Sands or even across the Taw estuary at Westward Ho! The south coast of Devon also boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. For good waves try Bigbury/Banthem, Jacobs Ladder at Sidmouth and further up the coast in Dorset Lyme Regis can attract good waves on easterly swells. It is the north coast that attracts the larger waves and swells that sweeps in from the Atlantic and up the Bristol Channel having traveled from the eastern seaboards of America.
Sit on kayaks are becoming more and more popular for fishing, with the ample space for storage and excellent stability. Taking a sit out on the sea for fishing is something which can be done from almost any beach in Devon. The estuaries along the south coast are especially popular with anglers.
